Hiya, I had a very similar sounding issue on a 2014 1.6 HDI with semi auto ETG6 gearbox, gear selection is by a push button or flappy paddles. My problems started at around 65K miles. Ok we have different cars, but it may be worth heeding a warning ! My symptoms .. on starting, I push the R button and get a bit of a clunk as reverse is selected . The metal linkage on top of the gear box which that looks like it replaces is exactly the same part number for the VTS and the GTi.. so is worth a go!
